12 month minimum programme for apprentices aged 16-18
- 17 February 2012
Following John Hayes’ announcement that all apprentices aged 16-18 should undertake a minimum 12 month Apprenticeship, the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) will be introducing a new funding rule effective from the 1st August 2012.
The new funding for the 12 month minimum Apprenticeships will be detailed in the SFA’s 2012/13 Funding Rules, due to be published at the end of March 2012. It is therefore recommended that all existing apprentices and those signed-up to Apprenticeships before the 1st August 2012, be placed onto a programme of 12 months or more to ensure compliance.
The National Apprenticeship Service will be undertaking a review to see if the same rule should apply to apprentices aged 19.
We will keep you updated with any future updates with regards to the new funding rules in our weekly Spotlight or for more information you can also visit the Skills Funding Agency’s website.
