Investing in green industry In signing up to the EU Renewable Energy Directive, the UK committed to reducing carbon emissions by 60% before 2050, with the aim of generating up to 20% of its energy through renewable sources by 2020. With such clear targets and pledges laid down by the Government, the UK is now the world leader in terms of its legal commitment to the green agenda. This promises significant future investment opportunities for both individuals and businesses.
Investing in green skills The introduction of the Green Deal has created an immediate skills need for those working in both the electrical and plumbing industries. The implementation of Feed-in tariffs and the launch of the Renewable Heat Incentive means tariff support and grants are being made available across the public, private and domestic sectors, encouraging considerable investment across the UK in new low-carbon technologies.
By investing in the right skills and qualifications to meet the needs of this rapidly changing industry, contractors and businesses will be able to work safely and competently across all the latest technologies. They will also benefit from achieving the professional recognition needed to maximise the new business opportunities presented by the introduction of the Green Deal.
Internationally accredited training with EAL For homeowners, organisations and businesses to access grants and tariff support through low-carbon incentive schemes, it is necessary they use installers that have not only gained industry accredited training, but successful registration with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
